Caldwell, ID - Te Awhina Aranui grabbed a CCC record 28 rebounds in a 71-56 loss at The College of Idaho on Friday night in Caldwell.

 

In addition to the conference record, Aranui broke the career rebounding record at Cascade. She now stands at 541 rebounds, surpassing the old mark of 521 held by long time T-Bird Ruby Buckley. The senior from Rotorua, New Zealand accomplished this feat in just 47 games played.

Down 8 at the half, Cascade mounted a second half charge and drew within 45-45 on an Aranui freethrow at the 11:59 mark. The Coyotes' Kayla Brewer answered with a trey and the hosts methodically pulled away down the stretch.

 

The Thunderbirds now sit at 10-11 overall and 3-8 in CCC play, while C of I improved to 12-6 and 9-2.
