Cascade freshman distance runner Eric Lagerstrom will put his athletic talents on display at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in June as he represents Team USA.  This is Lagerstrom's first World Championships appearance.  He qualified by finishing 2nd at the 2006 USA Triathlon National Championships at Hagg Lake in Forest Grove, Oregon. 

 

Lagerstrom, who entered his first triathlon as part of his swim training with the Mt. Hood Swim Club, was soon hooked and has since become one of the top amateur triathletes in the Northwest Region.   In addition to his recent successes Eric has claimed overall victories at numerous races, usually outpacing older and more experienced athletes in the process.

 

In 2008 Eric hopes to help launch the Cascade Triathlon Club which would compete with other collegiate clubs at local and national races.  "I am excited about getting more triathletes to come to Cascade and having a group of people that will race tri's in the summer and also be part of what we're building in Cross Country and Track."
