ASHLAND, Ore. - Cascade's run into the postseason came to an end with a 65-58 loss at NAIA #18 Southern Oregon tonight.
The T-Birds looked to score their second upset in a row as they led the host Raiders 51-41 at the 11:53 mark of the second half, but could not hold on.
Cascade scored the frst seven points of the game, but SOU would surge back and take a 31-21 lead midway through the opening half. A 9-0 run brought Cascade back to with in one, and the T-Birds were pleased with a 37-35 deficit at the break.
The second half proved to be more of the same with lots of back and forth action. The visiting T-Birds appeared to take control in forging the ten point advantage, but could only manage seven points in the final 12 minutes of the game as the Raiders stormed ahead.
Raquel Morin led Cascade with 19 points oin the night, and Robin Swain added 18. Senior Te Awhina Aranui scored 10, and grabbed a game high 16 rebounds in her final collegiate game.
Chelsey Muri tossed in 15 points to pace SOU. Rhiannon Dickison added 13, and the Raider bench outscored Cascade's 20-4.
Cascade finished their season with a 15-17 record. Southern Oregon moves on to the CCC Tourney Championship game, hosting The College of Idaho for a chance to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament in Souix City, IA.
