PORTLAND, Ore. - The Thunderbird Men's Cross Country program is pleased to announce that Eisenhower High School's Andrew Schmidt has signed a letter of intent to run cross country for Cascade College starting with the 2008 season.
   
"Andrew came highly recommended by Coach Phil English," noted Cascade Coach Bryant Howard, "he has earned awards for his work ethic and has already made his presence felt here at Cascade during his short campus visit."
 
Schmidt will also participate in Track where he currently runs the 1600 and 3200 meters at Eisenhower.  At the time of this press release he was the #2 ranked 3200m runner in Washington's Columbia Basin League.
 
"I'm looking forward to just being able to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually at Cascade," said Andrew, "Coach Howard and I are both passionate about the sport and the team and are going to expect a lot out each other over the next few years."
 
Cascade College is a four-year, private, co-educational liberal arts college emphasizing spiritual growth and career preparation. Cascade College offers a close academic community within a vibrant metropolitan area. Cascade is a branch campus of Oklahoma Christian University.  The 12-acre campus is located within the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon just ten minutes from Portland International Airport, near the Metropolitan Area Express train system (MAX) and a short drive from stunning natural attractions such as the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Mt. Hood, Multnomah Falls, and the Oregon coast.
