PORTLAND, Ore. - Head coach Justin Bigelow has announced the addition of three players to the 2008 roster - Alexis Coss, Kelsey Stone, and Rachel Van Roy.
Alexis Coss is from Henderson, Nev. where she was team captain at Foothill High School. She also has 4 years of club experience in the Las Vegas area. Alexis is an outstanding student, earning many awards for her academic achievement as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society.
"Alexis is a welcome addition," said Bigelow. "She has a great feel for the game and is a great teammate and leader. It is especially gratifying to have such a fantastic student join us as well. She will be successful in all areas at Cascade."
Kelsey Stone moves from a three year stint on the T-Bird women's basketball team to the soccer field this year. Though she hasn't played organized soccer since playing for local high school Centennial, coach Bigelow is confident she will be a factor this fall. "Kelsey hasn't played for a while, but her skills are still there and she has looked good in our summer workouts. Once her fitness level adjusts to soccer, she can really help us. We are very happy to have her don the green and white."
Rachel Van Roy arrives from Western Nevada College and will have three seasons remaining after transferring. Before her time at WNC, Van Roy was a team MVP and all-league player at Douglas High School in Carson City, Nevada. She is also a dedicated student, as she has been on the honor roll through out high school and college.
"We are very glad that Rachel will be joining us," said Bigelow. "She is a solid player with great instincts and good touch on the ball. Her work ethic and commitment to her studies makes her a perfect fit for our program."
Coach Bigelow and the T-Birds will be trying to build on last season's 8-7-3 record and first ever playoff berth.
