Portland, OR - First year head coach Matt Murphy has announced that Sierra College star point guard Phieban Mulatu has signed a letter of intent to play women's basketball for Cascade next fall.
Mulatu started at the point at Sierra College for two seasons, leading the Wolverines to a 45-19 overall record. Sierra posted a 23-8 mark her freshman year, which included an appearance in the California state junior college final four. The 5-8 guard then helped the team to a 24-12 record as a sophomore, racking up 205 assists, averaging 6.1 points, and 2.6 steals while being named 1st Team All-Conference.
Prior to Sierra, Mulatu played at Center High School in Sacramento, CA, leading her team to a Capital Valley League Championship as a junior and runner-up finish as a senior. She was named 1st Team All League as a senior.
"We are excited to have Phieban join the Cascade family," commented coach Murphy. "She brings tremendous experience coming from Sierra College. She is a proven winner from one of the top community college programs in California. She will bring leadership and ability to the critical point guard position."
