Portland, OR - In a bit of change in roles, Cascade College was the recipient of a weekend of service thanks to Innercity Sports Ministries (ISM) on August 24th and 25th. In partnership with Lighthouse Christian Center in Port Angeles, WA, a group of young people with hearts to serve spent a few hours working on Cascade's campus.
Jobs completed included: cleaning weight room, washing college vehicles, weeding flowerbeds, raking and hauling debris, and rock removal. After work, the group participated in a few games in Cascade's gym, followed by lessons from ISM board members Tim McGuire and Al Wylie.
"What a blessing to be served in this way," said assistant athletic director Cody Harrod. "These young folks helped us with some needed tasks, and worked on a part of campus that had been in need of attention. We thank them for their hard work!"
The service was spearheaded by LaShawn Chaney of ISM, and Ryan Brewer of Lighthouse Christian Center. The weekend was concluded with a cookout of burgers and hotdogs.
