Portland, OR - Cascade men's soccer broke out of a four game losing streak with a 5-1 non-conference victory over the Wolves of Walla Walla University at Williams & Smith Field today.
Edson Zacarias scored two goals to pace the T-Birds who improve to 5-8-0 on the year.
The Thunderbirds got things started at the 16:27 mark when Adalberto Angulo cracked an 18 yard left footed strike into the net after Nic Martinez' shot was blocked out front. Martinez added a goal of his own less than a minute later after nice combination passing up the right flank. The score reamained 2-0 until the break.
Cascade added 3 more scores after half time. Zacarias found the net two times after nice through passes by Fredrico Snow and Kevin Youatt. Then Youatt headed home a cross from Snow for the 5th goal in the 70th minute to conclude the scoring for Cascade.
The Wolves did not give up and managed to ring up the scoreboard with a quick counter attack and finish by Philly Chikapa at 78:13 to make the final score 5-1.
Anthony Trejo and Efrain Vargas shared duties at goalkeeper for Cascade, combining for 5 saves. Jorge Fernandez made 9 saves for Walla Walla.
Cascade resumes conference play on Tuesday October 16th at 3:00pm versus Northwest Christian.
