Portland, OR - Persistent rain and a saturated field didn't stop Cascade as the Thunderbirds rolled past Northwest Christian 5-1 in men's soccer conference play today at Williams & Smith Field.
Tim Danna scored a goal in each half from his forward spot as he returned to action after missing several games due to injury. The T-Birds have won two straight after enduring a season long 4 game losing streak.
Adalberto Angulo started the scoring early for Cascade, taking a Gerardo Cifuentes pass at the 18 and firing to the right corner just 6 minutes in. Kevin Youatt added a goal at the 23 minute mark, and Danna's first goal came at 40:46 after a nifty pass from Youatt.
Danna's second goal was registered 7 minutes into the second half, with Cifuentes picking up another assist with a nice slotted pass.
The visiting Beacons managed to tally a goal after Greg Erickson got free in the right corner and crossed a ball to a waiting Adam Hoffman who scored at the far post.
Cascade rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick that was converted skillfully by Peter Pickett.
Cascade improves to 6-8 overall and 5-6 in CCC play. NCC falls to 1-13 and 1-10.
