PORTLAND, Ore. - Cascade College athletics has announced the resignation of men's basketball coach Jon Shaw, effective May 12th. Shaw has accepted an assistant coaching position at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

"I am thankful for the opportunity I had at Cascade. It was a difficult decision, but I am excited for what lies ahead for me at Mercer," said Coach Shaw.

PORTLAND, OR. - The Thunderbirds Men's Basketball program is pleased to announce that Edmonds Community College guard Jordan McGinnis has signed a letter of intent for the 2008-09 season.

PORTLAND, Ore, - Modesto Junior College guard Nate Rodriguez has signed a letter of intent to play Basketball for the Thunderbirds next fall.

Rodriguez avaeraged 7.8 points and 5.3 assists as a sophomore for coach Paul Brogan. The assist mark was tops in the Central Valley Conference. "I was very fortunate to have Nate as part of our program for 2 years," said Brogan. "He is a fierce competitor that is a leader and refuses to let himself or any of his teammates go less than 100%. Not only was he our point guard but was our heart and soul. We won 42 games in 2 years and we couldn't have accomplished that without Nate."

PORTLAND, Ore. - Head Coach Jon Shaw has announced the signing of junior college star Jason Maples to a letter of intent.
 
Maples, a 6-2 guard, hails from Berkeley, CA and just finished his sophomore season at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, CA. Under coach Miguel Johnson, Maples avergaed 15 points per game, and was selected 1st Team All-Bay Conference and Defensive Player of the Year in both his freshman and sophomore years. He also averaged 3.77 steals per game as a freshman which was #1 in the state of California. For his accomplishments this year, Maples was voted Contra Costa College's male Athlete of the Year.

PORTLAND, Ore. - A 17 point second half Cascade lead slowly melted away as foul trouble plagued the T-Birds in a 96-89 loss versus Evergreen State on senior night at the Thunderdome.
 
Cascade held a 70-53 lead with 5 minutes gone in the second half, only to see the Geoducks outscore the T-Birds 43-19 the rest of the way. With just 8 players in uniform, multiple Thunderbirds were saddled with 4 fouls for the majority of the period.
