PORTLAND, Ore. - Head Coach Matt Murphy has announce that Maya Gross will be transferring to Cascade College to continue her education and play women's basketball for the 2008-09 season.
 
Gross, a 5-8 forward, comes from NCAA Div. II Dixie State College in St. George, UT where she was a 2 year member of the Rebel team. In 2007-08 she made 11 starts for Dixie, averaging 2.3 points and  4.3 rebounds. The rebounding mark was 3rd best on the team.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Cascade College women's basketball players Te Awhina Aranui and Mary Layton have received recognition for their academic excellence.
 
Both were named 2008 Daktronics/NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes and CCC Scholar Athletes for their acheivments in the classroom. Aranui is a senior from Rotorua, New Zealand ind is majoring in English. Layton is a senior from Buckley, Washington and is an Elementary Education major.
 
"It was a real pleasure to coach these two ladies," noted head coach Matt Murphy. "Their dedication to their studies has set the standard for our women's program. They will be greatly missed, on and off the court."

PORTLAND, Ore. - Head Coach Matt Murphy has announced the signing of Ashley Sanders to a letter of intent to play basketball for Cascade College for the 2008-09 season.
 
Sanders is a 5-4 guard from St. David, Ariz. and Blue Mountain Community College where she played for Cascade College alum and former assistant coach Amber Evans. A two year player for the Timberwolves, Sanders averaged 7.6 points per game and made 32 three point field goals as a sophomore.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Head Coach Matt Murphy has announced the signing of Sammie Clark to a letter of intent to play basketball at Cascade College for the 2008-09 season.
 
Clark, a 6-0 forward, just finished her sophomore season at Mt. Hood Community College where she averaged 12.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for coach Larry Davis.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Head coach Matt Murphy has announced that Kristina Schumacher has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Cascade College beginning in the 2008-09 season.
 
A 2 year starter at Everett Community College, Schumacher was recently named North Region MVP after leading the NWAACC with 660 points scored and a 20.8 ppg average. This season she helped coach Chet Hovde's Trojans to an North Region Championship and an 8th place finish at the NWAACC Tounament in Kennewick, WA. She also finished as Everett's career leading scorer with 1138 points.
 
Schumacher also carries a 3.9 gpa and was named NWAACC All-Academic as a freshman and sophomore.
