PORTLAND, Ore. - 1st year head coach Nels Norquist has announced the signing of Katherine Messerschmidt to a letter of intent to play volleyball for the Thunderbirds in 2008.
Messerschmidt is a 5-8 outside hitter from San Jose, California. In 2007 she played for coach Tait Rafat at San Jose City College where she averaged 2.09 kills and 1.87 digs per game. She is currently finishing her A.A. degree at SJCC and is coaching 16-1's club volleyball in the area.
Portland, OR - Cascade College is pleased to announce that Nels Norquist has been named Head Volleyball Coach.
Norquist arrives from Clackamas Community College where he had served as an assistant coach since 2005. Under long-time head coach Kathie Woods,he was part of a highly successful program that was NWAACC runner-up in 2006. His duties included recruiting, individual workouts, and coaching summer camps.
Portland, OR - Claire Van Meer, a 5-8 junior setter from Abbostford, British Columbia, had 68 assists – an average of 11.3 per game – 11 digs and four service aces in two matches last week in capturing CCC and Region I Setter of the Week honors.
Portland, OR - After a standout 2007 season, volleyball player Amanda Cochran was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as released by the league office today. The selections are made by vote of Cascade Conference head coaches.
Portland, OR - The T-Bird volleyball team said goodbye to three seniors with a 30-18, 30-17, 31-29 win over Evergreen State tonight in the final contest of the 2007 season.
Amanda Cochran, Vanessa Fleetwood, and Ashli Itami each played their last game for Cascade, and each were stars of the match.
